Practice Slowly
This commission is made from a reference photo of a young girl’s hand playing piano. It was commissioned in remembrance of a grandfather’s love of his granddaughter’s playing and his guidance to “practice slowly”
The piece was sculpted out of white stoneware clay and fired once. It was then hand finished with multiple glazes and washes to bring out the character and texture of the piece. Then it was fired again.
To finish off this piece it has been mounted 8-ply archival mat with a suade appearance, to enhance the color and texture of the work. It has been framed to a depth of 3” behind museum acrylic glass to minimize glare and reveal all the dimension and texture of the sculpture.
A gold filet and plaque were added as accents
It measures 18.75” x 21.5 and is ready to wire hang.
